What We Do

How we can work together

|

We love working with passionate producers who are looking to get the best results from their breeding program. We offer a professional, high quality service at a fair price and pride ourselves on good communication, punctuality, and an upbeat attitude. We work with businesses of all sizes and look forward to see what we can do for you!

 Bull Testing

Bull breeding soundness evaluations include an assessment of the viability of a bulls semen, examination of the reproductive organs and assessment of structural soundness in terms of feet and legs. Such examinations are carried out in accordance with the Australian Cattle Vets BullCheck scheme, of which Kristen is a member and has completed accreditation within. Bull testing is advised before sale, before joining each year and as part of a fertility workup when lower than expected pregnancy or calving rates have occurred.

Semen Collection and Freezing

Bull semen collection is a relatively straightforward process that is followed by a series of strict handling and laboratory protocols to ensure high quality semen after freezing. Semen can also be collected, analysed and extended to use fresh in AI programs. Repro Hub offers storage of frozen semen or it can be delivered back to the producer.

Artificial Insemination

Artificial insemination facilitates the insemination of a number of cows or heifers at the same time. An oestrus synchronisation program is utilised and the AI technician deposits the semen through the cervix into the uterus. Frozen semen is commonly used, however fresh, if available, can also be used. Our artificial insemination programs are designed to be as low-stress as possible on our clients with provision of a clear schedule and all necessary tools, including sourcing of semen on their behalf if requested.

Cattle Pregnancy Diagnosis

We utilise ultrasound to determine the pregnancy status of females accurately and reliably. This simple and effective management tool is considered essential in any cattle business. Preg testing is advised from 5 weeks after bulls have been taken out and can be performed right up to 8-9 months of gestation. Aging of the fetus is part of the service we offer to identify AI from back-up bull pregnancies or ‘early’ and ‘lates’ to facilitate management decisions.
